Why School?: How Education Must Change When Learning and Information Are Everywhere By: Will RichardsonWill Richardson is a blogger/educator/parent/author that I have followed for years online.  He initially caught my attention with his book Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms.  Last year I was excited to see Will release a short eBook he had written to ask important questions about Why School? in this technological age.  As someone who is hopeful for an awakening within the education world, I found his words to be an easily digestible way of describing why education is ready for change and how students are in need of it.  He provides insight on the opportunities that technology can provide to teachers, learners, and the classroom.  He sheds light on why these opportunities are important for the students to experience and how educators have a key role in the student learning experience.

Inspired by the ideas and information Will had to offer in his book, I asked the ASFM Technology Action Committee team to join me in a book discussion about this eText to determine what ASFM could take from Will’s ideas to provide a more rich learning experience for our students.  I look forward to engaging with my colleagues to discuss what they next generation of learning should look like.
